Data, Research, and Action Trackers

Afterschool Alliance: COVID-19 Response by State - The Afterschool Alliance has created folders to keep track of COVID-19 responses by state. The folders are broken down by 21st CCLC Guidance by State, CCDBG Guidance by State, and Other Guidance.

Afterschool Alliance: Update around Afterschool Programs in the Time of COVID-19 - The Afterschool Alliance has detailed the results of survey responses of afterschool programs in 49 states plus the District of Columbia during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Afterschool Alliance continues to gather information, stories, and perspectives from programs as they adjust to the new environment.

Results are based on 358 responses collected through a national online survey conducted by the Afterschool Alliance between March 31 - April 7, 2020.

National Conference of State Legislatures: COVID-19: Education Bill Tracking Database - NCSL is tracking legislation related to COVID-19 addressing prekindergarten–12th grade and higher education.

National League of Cities: COVID-19 Local Action Tracker:

The National League of Cities and Bloomberg Philanthropies have teamed up to collect and share actions taken by local leaders in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The Local Action Tracker highlights and uplifts the efforts of local leaders and continues to collect responses.

Every Hour Counts: COVID-19 Resources - Every Hour Counts has compiled resources from their network and colleagues to help afterschool intermediaries, educators, providers, families, and community leaders during this unprecedented time.

National Conference of State Legislatures: COVID-19 Resources - NCSL has put together the Education Program's COVID-19 resource page and is offering additional information on the NCSL's main COVID-19 page, which includes:

  • Continuity of government actions, including how the virus is affecting state legislatures.

  • Health issues, including state actions and state quarantine and isolation statutes.

  • Federal steps regarding the virus and how they impact states.

  • Budget and fiscal implications and actions.

  • Consequences for upcoming elections and the census.

  • Links to key state and federal resources.

NCSL is also producing a podcast series focused on how states are taking action in response to the coronavirus pandemic, and have offered a webinar on COVID-19 updates around education, child care, and nutrition.

National League of Cities: Coronavirus Response Resources for Local Leaders

The National League of Cities is committed to providing local leaders with the necessary tools and resources to ensure cities, towns and villages are well equipped to navigate the current outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Networks can find federal policy updates, resources and best practices cities are implementing on the National League of Cities COVID-19 resource page.

NLC has also developed the following resources:

  • The state municipal leagues’ resource pages offer state-specific information about emergency declarations and executive orders, municipal operations (including legal and human resource guidance/templates), and links with emergency management and public health officials. SAN can use this as a source for updates from state government, local news regarding the coronavirus outbreak, and serve as an additional repository for local government action examples as well as external resources.

  • Children and families need opportunities to learn and grow, to be financially stable so they can pay their bills and get ahead, to live a healthy lifestyle and have access to healthcare, and to have safe neighborhoods to call home. NLC’s Children and Family Support Resources uplift strategies that local leaders can take to address the increasing needs in their community.

  • The COVID-19 Response Resources for Local Leaders page was developed to support cities, towns, and villages during the COVID-19 outbreak.

thread COVID-19 Resource Center - thread’s Resource Center includes Early Childhood Education Resources, Family Resource Center, and community resources.

American Camp Association COVID-19 Resource Center for Camps - With the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) within the United States, now is an excellent time for camps to review and update health-related plans and procedures and communicate with your camp families and staff members. Take advantage of these sources to ensure you stay up to date on the latest information and best practices for coronavirus and communicable disease prevention and management.

TryEngineering eLearning Resources - As schools close, many teachers are looking for options to transition their curriculums to home learning. Additionally, many parents and guardians are looking for online activities to keep their children educated and entertained. TryEngineering has curated free resources available to support teachers and parents during this unprecedented and challenging time.

Online Learning Strategies for Students with Disabilities - Over the last few years, postsecondary institutions continue to move many of their courses online. In this publication, some participants in projects supported by the DO-IT center at the University of Washington share their experiences and recommendations for other students with disabilities who are taking online courses.

STEM Teaching Tools - Supporting Students’ Science Learning During COVID-19 School Closures - During the COVID-19 crisis, many families are looking for helpful educational resources. There are many opportunities to engage in safe, meaningful science learning in your home and neighborhood. Science teachers, district science coordinators, and other science education leaders are working to provide advice and resources to support families. These resources might be useful to educators, families, and educational leaders.
