Last week, the Alaska Afterschool Network team and Alaska Children's Trust welcomed Julee Douglas as a summer intern from First Alaskan Institute's internship program. Julee has started her time working with the Afterschool Network and Alaska Children’s Trust by learning more about network partners and immersing herself in the world of afterschool!
Julee’s bio: My name is Julee Douglas. I was born in Ketchikan Alaska. I am Tlingit from the Eagle clan, from the split killer whale house (Tsaagweidí). My parents are Sandra Bohannon and Jerry Mueller. My Grandparents are Agnus Roundtree and Harvey Bohannon. My siblings are Ron Mueller and Rick Mueller.
I found my passion fortuitously after a few years in recovery. I took a job as a peer recovery coach for women in a sober living home. I found aiding others in their recovery played a significant part in my own healing. I believe that every human has a profoundly important story to tell given the chance; that we are not defined by our past, our diagnosis, or our status. By planting the seeds of wellness in our people, one person at time, we also create healthier families, healthier communities, and more vibrant cultures. The ripples keep going.
